Before the wedding day, there are some things a bride-to-be just needs to know. Some of these tips come in handy months before the special event, while others will be useful in the eleventh hour.

Stay sane, adhere to these 5 handy hints and you run that little bit smoother.

1. Nerves are natural

A lot of people will tell you that you shouldn't feel nervous about marrying the person you love, but in fact it's natural to feel apprehensive about the how the day is going to turn out and what married life will be like. Take a deep breath and remember this is all part of the process.A lot of people will tell you that you shouldn't feel nervous about marrying the person you love, but in fact it's natural to feel apprehensive about the how the day is going to turn out and what married life will be like. Take a deep breath and remember this is all part of the process.

2. Don't sweat the small stuff

Although nerves are natural, don't sweat the small stuff! If you spend the whole event focusing on perfection, you will miss out on the bigger picture, which is that you are getting married to a very special person. Although you will want every strand of hair on your head to be perfect and every guest to be happy, remember that in the end what matters is the exchange of love and vows.

3. Put down the things-to-do list

Get some rest especially in the days leading up to the wedding. While you might feel like running around double checking every detail making sure it's perfect, remember that the services you booked and other helpers you've enlisted are professionals and will make sure everything is in order! You want to be well-rested so you can get the most out of you big day, so take a break.

4. The power of now.

Be present and live in the moment. Savour every second and don't worry about anything else. Whether it's when your trying on wedding gowns with your mum or sticking bows onto your wedding invitations. To all the super special moments on the day, when he's slipping the ring onto your finger, when you're cutting the cake or kissing goodbye to your mum and dad...don't worry about your guests, your hair, the tear in the dress, just live in the moment.
