Navy blue, soft pastel peaches, pinks and creams were the colour of Jessica and Andrew's big day, held at the Villa Botanica in Queensland.

The fairytale story began when Andrew knelt down in the snow and proposed on top of a beautiful mountain during a New Zealand holiday. The dreamy mountain-top proposal was private, but they were travelling with close friends who all knew of the plan and had emergency plans in place just in case the ring - which Andrew carried with him everywhere - set off the airport metal detectors and risked exposing the surprise!

After the engagement went off without a hitch, the couple took their time to plan their autumn wedding, complete with fairy lights, lanterns and other beautiful vintage touches.

The day was laid-back, with a rustic garden theme, which suited the bride and groom down to a tee. The wedding venue, Villa Botonaica, was perfect for this, with its lush green tropical scenery and rainforest paths creating the ideal setting for wedding photos.

The ceremony was beautiful. Beneath a charming pergola within the grounds of Villa Botanica, the groom's sister shared a reading adapted from extracts from the Dalai Lama and The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran on the subject of love. Jessica's father also read out some tear-jerking prose and the couple exchanged vows they had written themselves.

Jessica looked stunning in her picture-perfect dress. It was an elegant halter-neck style, with laced detail around the bust and shoulders. From there, the white gown floated gently down to the floor with a slight train. The look was complemented by a gentle, long-length tulle veil hairpiece.

Jessica's bridesmaids - her sister and a close friend - dressed in her favourite colour in navy blue, floor-length dresses. She also had a bridesman, Brendan, dressed in a navy blue suit to distinguish him from the groomsmen.

Andrew's dapper look included beige pants, a white shirt and a custom soft, blue grey jacket, while the groomsmen let their suspenders show over their crisp white shirts sans jackets.

The bride's flowers were another breathtaking part of the day. The bouquet was perfectly round, full of open roses, freesias and lisianthus in gentle shades of pink, peach and other soft pastels, fitting the rustic theme perfectly tied with hessian and brown string.

One of the most special aspects of this big day was the decor. There were plenty of vintage touches with the look of gorgeous home-made crafts and decorations, such as hessian runners for the tables, jars and vases with delicate flowers and softly illuminating tea lights. Each table even had small easels holding handmade menus.

In a fun and affectionate touch, table numbers were black and white photos of Jessica and Andrew holding up numbers, which they had the foresight to take during their engagement photoshoot!

The wedding reception table was also impressively rustic, with an old wedding suitcase as the Wishing Well, easels and chalkboards with signs, memories and meaningful quotes written on them.

As bombonniere, the bride's mother and sister made homemade strawberry jam to give to the guests, complete with beautiful personalised notes, "Love is sweet, enjoy our homemade strawberry jam. Love J + A" stamped on brown kraft paper tags and tied to the jars with hessian string.

As this was a destination wedding, handmade welcome notes and a nice cold bottle of bubbly were placed in each of the guest's hotel rooms for their arrival, to really make them feel welcome and appreciated.

When the big day came to an end, the couple jetted off for a 'mini-moon' to a private island called Ratua in Vanuatu, where they spent five beautiful nights. Because they only had limited time, they are currently planning a belated honeymoon to Europe that coincides with their first wedding anniversary in 2014!
