The Product

Claim to fame

Non-invasive laser body contouring that helps you achieve a natural-looking, slimmer appearance. Ideal for treating stubborn hard to shift fatty layers in the flanks (love handles), on the stomach and legs.

What is it?

Sculpsure is a laser machine that permanently kills fat cells

How does it work?

Paddles are clipped to the area you want to treat that generate a laser to blast the fat under the skin. The energy transmitted through the skin is absorbed by the fatty tissue which destroys the fat cells.

According to Sculpsure, "the number of fat cells stored in our bodies typically remains constant throughout adult life.  As we lose weight, the size of fat cells become smaller, but do not decrease in number. Even with diet and exercise, many people have difficulty losing weight in these trouble areas. After the SculpSure treatment, the fat cells are permanently destroyed and will not return."

What body areas can I treat?

The chin area, abdomen, love handles (flanks), back, inner thighs and outer thighs. SculpSure is not a weight loss solution or for people who are obese.

Does it hurt?

Yes it was painful, but ultimately tolerable.

The best way to describe it was hot menstural cramps.  The hotter the paddles became the more painful it was and just when it became unbearable the cooling cylce kicked in that instantly relieved the pain and my nerves.

Would I do it again?

Yes, and I was relieved to find the second treatment was less painful and less stressful than the first, probably because I knew what to expect.

Who should try it?

Brides and grooms to be who are 3-6 months out from their wedding and don't want invasive surgery to remove fat that despite exercise won't shift.  Sculpsure will do this with no down time.

Who shouldn't?

This isn't a weight loss solution.  Unless you continue to exercise and eat a healthy diet, there's no point - you'll just be throwing your money away.

Q & A

Q : How far out from the wedding should a bride or groom start the treatment?

Considering that the recommended amount of treatment is 2 and in some cases 3, I would recommend to start 6 months prior the wedding. Clients see the full result 12 weeks post treatment.

Q : What are the most successful areas for men and for women to treat?

Abdomen and flanks (love handles)

Q : Is there a limit to the number of treatments someone can have?

Q : Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects, may include redness/Erythema, firmness, tenderness , nodules, swelling, discomfort, and bruising. If these side effects do occur, they are temporary and localised in the treatment area.

Personally I had no negative side effects except it was a little uncomfortable putting on my skinny jeans the next day.

Where to find it:

The Sculpsure website has a Find Local Providers page

If you can get over the thought that you are being microwaved from the inside out it the 25 minutes of hot cramping was worth it.

I definitely noticed a flattening of my pot belly but as Sculpsure are quick to point out the effects aren't permanent unless you continue to exercise and say no to your regular mid afternoon paleo brownies.

It's a good kick start to a pre-wedding exercise regime to shape, flatten and tone. You could achieve the same result by going on a strict sugar free meal plan for a few months with daily exercise.
