Taylor Swift recently walked down the aisle not to say i-do but in the all important role as Chief Bridesmaid for her 'friend since 10 years old' wedding this week.

Excited about being asked she told People magazine, "I've never been a maid of honour before. This is my first time, and it's really, really important to me because this is my best friend, who I've known since I was born. And she's marrying someone I've known since I was 4."

YEAH I WILL. @britmaack

Taking her role very seriously Taylor took her childhood best friend Britany Maack wedding dress shopping, deciding upon a gorgeous princess cut Reem Acra wedding dress for the bride and a stunning blush coloured bridesmaid dress for herself.

As a good bridesmaid should she attended all the necessary fittings and managed to fit in a few more duties as well.

In short a bridesmaid needs to:

1. Go bridesmaid dress shopping and be available to attend any dress fittings.

2. Buy a new pair of shoes to match the bridesmaids dress.

2. Be by the brides side for any major planning events she may need help in making decision upon such as the wedding dress shopping, venue hunting, bomboniere searching.

3. To make yourself available for crafternoons and DIY days. If the bride is a Martha Stewart fan there'll be plenty of them!

4. Be an emotional support and sounding board in times of a pre-wedding crisis; let's face it, weddings can be stressful - there may be a few.

5. To plan a fabulous hen's party and bridal shower.

6. To smile, wear a pretty dress, walk down the aisle, carry a bouquet, remove lippy marks from brides face, dance and smile in all the right photos.
