Accessories are just another part of a bride's big day, and while they can take second place to planning the dress, the hair and the makeup, it's still essential you consider them.

We share some tips to help you choose your accessories wisely, so you can shine on-trend and in style even brighter on your big day.

1.   More polish

Ornate wedding headbands and hair combs are right on trend this year giving your hair adornment more structure in the form of pearls, crystals and precious metal, you still get that floral vibe, but with lashings of polish.

2.   One silver comb

A standout accessory that featured heavily on the bridal runways this year was the simple hair accessory. Jenny Packham's collection showed how magical a simple silver clip, comb or band can look. For those with a white, ivory or silvery grey dress, a silver hairpiece is the perfect cherry-on-top.

3. On the other hand...go OTT on accessories

On the other hand, if it's a more formal do, and your wedding dress is quite simple, you might want to create an exciting contrast between that and your accessories. For the summer, a bright pink and orange bracelet or teardrop earrings can form a perfectly distinctive look. Otherwise, elegant diamonds add the perfect touch to your ivory dress.

5. 3. Less is more...more or less...

When it comes to accessories for a wedding dress less can definitely more.  A sheath style wedding dress can look great with just a plain silver bangle and stud earrings creating a classic, elegant look.

Ask yourself do you really need the accessory? If your decolletage is to die for then leaving your neck line bare can have a striking effect.

Designers at the latest New York Bridal Fashion Week showed a cautious approach to accessorising, with many outfits featuring none at all.

Wedding Tip :

Be extra careful that any accoutrements you choose won't snag on your outfit, particularly if you're wearing a delicate fabric such as lace. Avoid bracelets over a long-sleeve dress or any style of gown that is particularly fragile.
