Trousseau
Trousseau
Derived from the French word "trousse" which means bundle, the Trousseau was originally whatever the bride's father gave to her as a dowry, including the bride's possessions as she entered into the marriage.
Traditionally, the bride would make linens, clothing and other items to add to her Trousseau, which she kept in a wooden box with a key.
Nowadays this is known as a Hope Chest or Glory Box.
