Japanese Wedding Traditions

A Japanese bride will change her bridal attire numerous times throughout the wedding day, and these days it has become more a symbol of status than a tradition.
She will arrive at the reception in her traditional bridal Kimono, and throughout the course of the function will change into a series of other gowns and finally back into a full traditional Kimono.
Many Japanese brides will include a western bridal gown as part of their outfit. As the usual number of dress changes is about four, Japanese weddings inevitably become extremely costly.
Another expensive tradition is for the groom to pay the Bride's family three months of his salary. This is like a form of repayment to her family for his gain of a partner, and their loss of a daughter.
