Giving Away The Bride
It is tradition for the father of the bride to walk his daughter down the aisle and give her away to the groom. By doing this, the father is giving his utmost blessing to the marriage, and feels confident in handing over the responsibilites of taking care of his daughter to his future son-in-law.
Today, in most traditional ceremonies, the minister or celebrant will ask ~
"Who gives this woman to be married to this man?"
And the father of the bride will reply, "Her mother and I."
