Bride On The Left

Why The Bride Is On The Left

In ancient times, when there was high chance of an enemy invasion, the groom needed his right arm free in case he needed to draw his sword for combat.

Today, this tradition has survived, as the bride walks down the aisle on her father's left arm, and stands at the altar to the left of the groom.

Usually, the family and friends of the bride are seated on the left-hand side of the chapel, and the groom's on the right.
