Some trends come and go, and we're happy to wave them goodbye. Others become such firm favourites we can't bear to let them go. Here's the rundown of the trends from 2017 we're hanging onto in 2018 because...well just because.

Rug up

Last year's winter weddings were awash with rugs, as couples created a home-style ambience by including layered rugs in their décor.

A terrific tool to add intimacy and warmth to any setting. Luxe faur fur lap blankets are another inspired idea for chilly drinks by the firepit during an outdoor winter wedding.

Transparency

No, not in your marriage, in your décor. Last year saw us fall in love with lucite and acrylic, two materials we've seen on chairs, place cards, signage and more - a particular favourite for modern marriages.

Tropical foliage was everywhere last year - think palm fronds and banana leaves - and not just the real deal. In addition to seeing these tropical treats included in wedding bouquet and reception floral arrangements, we've seen plant prints expand to stationery, furniture, clothing and more.

Fun Food

Taking the wedding food truck idea to the next level, we're now seeing back-of- the-truck wood-fired pizza ovens and Prosecco-serving motorcyclists rocking up to cool weddings. Delish.

Unexpected Flowers

It'd be a rare wedding that didn't have flowers, but just because you want them...doesn't mean you'll have them. At least not in the usual ‘carry l bouquet' way.

Inventive ideas for 2018 include flowers overhead, whether hanging from candelabras or from the ceiling, decorative floral wreaths and garlands and floral mandalas.
