Wedding Day Decisions. Who decides?

urbanartistry8.jpgLots of decisions are made throughout the planning of a wedding and these days there are a squillion choices.

Will it be white, pearl, oyster or aqua, will it be a limo, a harley, a caddy or rolls. Will you have orchids, peonies, daisies or freesias, will it be knee length, full length, tea length or mini.

The bride and groom usually makes most of the decorative decisions and before decisions on anything are made you both need to decide on the wedding day theme.

Will it be a traditional or more modern wedding. Will it be formal or informal? How many wedding guests do you want to have or if you have booked the wedding venue, how many wedding guests can you have.

Do you picture a room full of white and a silver service meal or tables splashed with petals and surrounded by buffet stations for a more casual affair.

The following table outlines the traditional breakdown of who decides what based on the brides parents as the hosts of the wedding.  These days the bride and groom usually decide or have the final decision on most things although it is important to remember, if one party is footing all or most of the wedding bill then be considerate and give them the opportunity for their input.

Editors Tip:

The correct quota of invited guests to a wedding is: 50% of the wedding guests are invited by the bride and groom, 25% the bride's family and 25% the groom's family.

If the bride's family are paying for all the wedding reception expenses and other expenses such as the wedding dress and bridal attire then they are traditionally considered the hosts of the wedding and can ask a few more guests if they wish.

It should however be remembered that a wedding is a very personal celebration attended by close family and friends who know the bride and groom.
