1. Top notch table settings

Are you having a seated meal or snacks outside in your garden?

If seated, your tables can be as formal or informal as you like. Having an elegant table setting will turn your backyard into a wedding day fit for a queen.

Colours, like gold, plum, white, beige, bronze and other earthy tones suit tablecloths, cutlery and napkins well. Or for something that nods more to a garden theme, take inspiration from the American Southern tradition or opulent English weddings and keep it light with colourful fresh pastels of pink, peach and yellow.

For simple snacks; drinks bars, ice-cream stations, sushi bars, satay bars or a bbq are an easy way to keep the food flowing and keep everyone out of the kitchen and in the backyard.

2. Set up an outdoor bar

For a delightful ethereal atmosphere, hundreds of fairy lights or lanterns strung up in trees or zig zagging across the backyard, can look absolutely amazing.

Candles also look romantic and beautiful scattered around the backyard, placed across tables or floating on a water feature. Not only does this look beautiful, if provides a lovely whimsical feel to your event.

To keep your candles sheltered, place them in various sizes of mason jars or buy LED candles that can look as good as the real deal.

4. Beautiful florals and seating

For a backyard wedding, garden flowers look gorgeous. Go for soft tones such as creams, peaches, pinks, yellows or white. Complement them with a little greenery for a fresh garden feel. Outdoor lounges and woodern tables also look amazing against the lush greenery.

A backyard wedding would not be complete without a few traditional backyard games. Think cricket, croquet, petanque or badmington; set up a corner with one or a few ideas.

Not only is it a fun activity, it also is a great source of free entertainment for other guests.
