Let's just get it out there, Trisara Thailand is hard to top for a divine destination wedding - and we've been up close and personal with more than a few.

Why we love it

With plenty of privacy, exotic gardens, delicious food and a choice of romantic locations for your ceremony and celebrations, you'll quickly feel at (someone else's super swish) home at Trisara.

wedding ceremony at Trisara Resort

Enjoying a picture-perfect position on its own tranquil bay on Phuket's stunning north-west coast, Trisara is made for intimate weddings of up to 100 guests (although we reckon 50-ish is just perfect), with more than 500 friendly staff to ensure everything runs smoothly.

As for the name, Trisara means ‘The Garden in the Third Heaven' in Sanskrit. Sounds pretty spot on to us.

Where to say I Do

There's no shortage of options when it comes to picking a stunning spot to say ‘I Do' at Trisara.

Trisara Resort Thailand

From walking on water in your own private villa to exchanging vows in an ancient ficus grove to a 1000-square-metre deck with a private beach....the saying ‘spoilt for choice' could have been written for this place. Luckily there's a dedicated team of wedding planners to help you choose.

luxury wedding venues Trisara Thailand

While there are around 60 ocean-view pool villas and multi-room residences at Trisara, our pick for a sublime spot to swap vows was ‘Villa 5', thanks to its epic balcony, phenomenal views, beautiful tropical flowers and room for 60-odd (lucky) guests. For us, Villa 2 ran a close second, Villa 6 is the Manager's favourite, and Villa 30 is a chic choice for a smaller wedding.

Deluxe Accommodation

While beautiful resorts are pretty much a dime a dozen in Thailand, what sets Trisara apart is the fact every villa or suite has its own private pool, deck and panoramic views over the turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea and private beach below.

Luxury weddings

Even the smallest accommodation, Ocean View Pool Junior Suites, start at an ultra-roomy 135-square-metres and have their own private plunge pool.

The most popular pick is the Ocean Front Pool Villa, which offers 240-square-metres of spectacular space, garden-facing bathrooms, a 10-metre infinity pool overlooking the ocean, teak decks and a private outdoor shower.

Destination Wedding Thailand Trisara Resorts

For those keen to indulge in the ultimate luxury, or who wish to share their pre or post-wedding celebrations with a group of family and friends, there are multi-room villas with enormous private infinity pools, full kitchens and the services of their own dedicated cook and housekeeper. Life's tough.

And while the villas are ideal for weddings, they'd also be a terrific choice for a getaway with friends.

Everything's on site

There's a team of wedding planners, florists, wedding decorators an onsite hair and make-up artist, Trisara's expert team are old hands at ensuring your wedding is stunning, and stress-free.

There's even a world's class production studio, DDEN, with its own team of photographers, producers and digital artists to capture wedding (and honeymoon) moments in photos and video.  They even have a camera to capture a 3D virtual reality version of your wedding too!

A four-hour photography package including digital prints is approximately AUD1500.

Food glorious food

Food is serious business at Trisara. The on-site creative Food and Beverage team will help you design your own wedding feast, and the chefs work closely with local farmers and fishermen to bring the best seasonal produce to the table - and it shows.

Signature oceanfront restaurant Seafood (no prize for guessing what's on the menu here) serves up ‘mamma's lost recipes', a series of flavoursome home-cooked favourites, such as comforting, crispy deep-fried sand fish, which left us licking the plate.

As you'd expect from an exclusive resort, the breakfast buffet and a la carte menus are just what the wedding doctor ordered, with plenty of fresh (and fabulous) options on offer. A little inside tip - order a side of breads with, well, everything - they're sublime!

PRU elevates the farm-to-table concept to a whole new level in a tribute to the produce of the Andaman region. Chef Jim Ophorst represented Thailand in the San Pellegrino Young Chef Awards; and is now treating resort guests to a taste of his inventive cuisine.

For something lighter and more laidback, sample world-class tapas and cool cocktails at The Bar, enjoy brunch and a side of Sunday Jazz on the palm-fringed Deck, or spoil yourself with a private in-villa BBQ or super romantic seaside or poolside meal for two.

The Jara Spa

Inspired by the century-old Ficus tree it overlooks, The Jara Spa offers a raft of treatments in a tranquil, private space with ocean views. For a true top-to-toe relaxation - and rejuvenation - try the ‘Jara Local'. This package includes a Thai massage lesson, Samupai Scrub & Wrap, Thai thermal massage, Thai Stretching and a walking meditation.

We found the post-treatment relaxation room with its traditional tea and betel leaf digestive snack almost as good as the treatments. Let the staff know if you enjoy it and they'll happily bring you another one!

Awash with activites

With its beautiful beachfront location, private jetty (in case you bring your private yacht no less) and proximity to world-class golfing and local cultural sights, your guests will be anything but bored.

Trisara Resort Thailand

Get rid of pre-wedding tension with a Thai boxing class or yoga session, learn the local delicacies in a cooking class, or hit the water for a spot of stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking or snorkelling.

Beyond the resort, your guests will love the elephant sanctuary in old Phuket town, hiking in Koa Sok, taking a fishing expedition or farm tour, or exploring Jungceylon Shopping Mall.

A dedicated kids' club will keep little ones happy...and out of their parents' hair.

The Verdict

We'd say ‘I Do' to getting hitched at Trisara any day.

It manages to effectively achieve the holy grail of the destination wedding: bringing your family and friends together in one place whilst still allowing everyone their own space - especially as newlyweds.

The service is super attentive yet discreet, and we couldn't fault staff across the restaurants or resort activities.

Wedding packages start from $10,000, including a ceremony, reception, food and drinks. Visit Trisara to request their latest wedding packages.
