If you have a large wedding you will want to ask some friends to act as ushers. In order to get your wedding guests seated quickly with minimum fuss, consider the ratio of one usher per 50 guests.

Groomsmen, not the best man, can also perform these duties - the best man should stick by the groom!

Duties :

  1. To arrive 30-40 minutes before the ceremony starts.
  2. Unfurl the aisle runner if one is to be used.
  3. Hand out the order of service to the guests as they arrive.
  4. Assist in seating the guests at the ceremony.
  5. Escort key family and friends to the seats at the ceremony.
  6. Ensure all the guests know where they are sitting at the reception, be polite and escort guests to their seats.
  7. Know the ins and outs of the reception venue especially where the bathrooms are located.
  8. To act as parking attendants or even valets and direct traffic to available parking if parking may be a problem.
